CSCC Writer’s Conference

This is the slidedeck for the presentation I’m giving at the Columbus State Community College Writer’s Conference on Saturday, May 1, 2010. In the presentation I’ll introduce the concepts and some of the common tools and applications used to create a presence and following on several social media channels. By doing this I will show how you can get more gigs and turn your passion for writing into a career.

Flagler College Presentation

I presented the above slides to students at Flagler College as part of my presentation about using digital media and social networking to develop your own, unique career path – even while you’re still a student. The slides and associated links are meant primarily to inspire conversation among the group as opposed to being presented specifically as a lecture. I’ll be presenting a similar conversation starter at the Columbus State Community College writers conference on May 1 – click here for details on that.

Discussion Slides

Here are the slides from my presentation/conversation hybrid that I hosted last weekend at the Digital Media in a Social World OSU event. All in all the event was good and I believe that my session went fairly well. Unfortunately I don’t believe I did as good of a job engaging the room as I’d hoped for but that is the risk you take when you try something new.

The topic was basically about making your offline presence (particularly as an organization) much more responsive and flexible to the needs of your supporters and community – the way it is with your online presence. Here are the slides:
