Who We Are

The most important part of Andrew Miller Consulting is your organization and your community. Together, we will grow a successful and innovative community of practice where no single individual is more important than the larger goal.

There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about.– Magaret Wheatley

Andrew Miller Consulting is much more than an individual effort; this is a truly collaborative community project. For this reason the purpose and the process surrounding it are much more important than the person. So, if you’re ready to get into the heart of the work skip over to How We Work.

Andrew Miller – Innovation Gardener

Much of my youth was spent working on volunteer efforts trying to make my community a little better, following creative endeavours and tinkering with computers and other technologies. Out of that grew a life-long career of using my innate curiosity to learn how we connect as people, both on a face to face level and through technology. I believe in the power of making personal connections and think that power is, in itself, enough to change communities.

Most of my professional career has been based around the implementation and co-ordination of network based technologies while I have a long history of community organizing and change management facilitation from my volunteer life.

“Andrew is an excellent strategic thinker who has become actively involved with WOSU both as an on-air contributor with commentaries as well as through his technical knowledge and expertise in the social media environment. He has brought new and innovative ideas forward to help advance WOSU’s public service mission.”- Tim Eby, Chairman (2004-2007) NPR Board of Directors

As an author I continue my research into community and technology issues and can be heard offering commentary on WOSU, in several small publications and online at this website as well as others. Currently I am collaborating on a book project titled Social Knowledge: Using Social Media to Know What You Know which is scheduled for publishing by IGI-Global in early 2010.

I have had the pleasure of working with the State of Ohio, WOSU, the City of Columbus, the City of Upper ArlingtonExperience Columbus, the Columbus Blue Jackets, The Columbus Medical Association Foundation, UA Artsthe UA Library Levy Campaign and Debbie Johnson for UA City Council on their online community outreach strategies.

In recent years I helped to establish the Columbus Social Media Cafe and UA Arts. I serve as an advocate for OurUA.org and on the board of Leadership UA. I continue my learning by remaining involved as a core team member for the Central Ohio Art of Hosting  and Upper Arlington Art of Hosting communities of practice.

“[Andrew's] ability to motivate others to get involved is essential to the success of any project he is part of. I cannot express enough how wonderful it has been to work with Andrew. I truly admire Andrew’s fearless approach to projects. If he doesn’t know the answer to a question he will find it…”- Angela Long, State of Ohio
