The Center for Groveport Madison Human Needs is hoping to make a joyful noise to support those in need this holiday season with a pair of concerts to benefit programming such as the annual holiday Adopt-a-Family program.

The third annual Evening of Dinner & Gospel music will take place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4760 Winchester Pike.

The deadline to purchase dinner tickets passed Nov. 3, but concert tickets are available at the door for $5 per person.

Two hours of music will be presented by the Gospel Roadmasters, Cornerstone Gospel Quartet and God’s Ambassadors.

“This is the third year for this event to happen, and it was really the idea of Gene McCauley, who is with Gospel Roadmasters, one of the groups performing,” director Christine Boucher said. “This event has been well-attended in the past with about 100 folks joining us for dinner and the concert.”

Two weeks later, on Sunday, Nov. 23, the Center for Groveport Madison Human Needs will welcome people back for its seventh annual Giving Thanks Choral Concert at the Groveport Madison High School auditorium, 4475 S. Hamilton Road.

“This concert is conducted by Terri Christensen with a community choir from several churches and folks from around the community,” Boucher said. “We hope people turn out to start their holiday off right with the beautiful sounds of this choir.”

The Giving Thanks Choral Concert starts at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public, with a reception following the show. There will be a “love collection” at the event for guests to donate to the Center for Groveport Madison Human Needs if they choose.

Boucher said the annual Adopt-a-Family program for residents in the Groveport Madison school district is getting underway.

“We’re looking for supporters to adopt families and purchase their Christmas items based on a shopping list we provide, contribute new toys and gift items to our Abundance Alley, or donate money for the last-minute shopping trip,” she said.

The group is also looking for volunteers to help with organizing and distributing gifts, she said.
