The president and chief executive officer of the Canal Winchester Area Chamber of Commerce is leaving that post to become the city’s new events and communications coordinator.
Amanda Lemke announced last week her resignation from the chamber would take effect Monday, July 28, the same day she starts work for the city. Her starting salary will be $37,856 plus benefits.
“At the end of July, I’ll be leaving the chamber to begin a new position,” Lemke said. “It has been a pleasure and an honor to work with our members and community to explore new and exciting business ventures, create jobs, enhance sales, boost employee satisfaction and increase local influence.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to grow Canal Winchester’s visibility in my new role.”
The newly created role will include some of the community affairs duties previously handled by Carrie Hoover, who resigned in 2011, and some of those assigned to retiring community center administrator Donna Warren. As the coordinator, Lemke will report to both Mayor Michael Ebert and Construction Services Administrator Bill Sims.
“We are looking forward to Amanda coming on board,” Sims said. “Her previous experience within the local Canal Winchester community will greatly enhance her ability to be able to hit the ground running as the city continues to look for and find opportunities to improve the quality of life for our residents.
“In addition to her responsibilities as events and communications coordinator, Amanda will be using her talents to assist Linda Tennison with activities at the Frances Steube Community Center,” he said.
The chamber’s executive committee said in a press release it would begin seeking candidates to fill the job of president. The salary range will be $28,900 to $31,200.
The executive committee, headed by Chamber Chairman Erica Wymer and Chair-Elect Connie Spruill will review resumes and conduct interviews, the press release said.
The president and CEO of the chamber reports to the chamber’s board of directors. The successful candidate, according to a job description from the chamber, will lead public relations efforts, coordinate economic development activities, manage income and expenditures, serve as a chamber membership liaison and conduct long-range planning.
Lemke was named chamber CEO in July 2012 after filling the role on an interim basis following the resignation of Bobbi Guitner.
