Organizers of the ninth annual Groveport Nature Fair say this year’s event will be a full day of creepy crawly fun for the whole family.

The 2014 Groveport Nature Fair will feature several hands-on animal encounters, along with a variety of family-friendly activities and entertainment. The fair will take place from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 14, at Heritage Park, 551 Wirt Road.

“With every year, it keeps getting bigger and better,” city naturalist Tina Dillman said. “Kids of all ages and their families will have lots of hands-on activities to enjoy, and it’s all free. There will be something fun for everyone.”

Headliners this year include PT Reptiles, which will bring its creepy crawlies and snakes. The Battyman, Musical Mark, will provide entertainment with his bug-song music. Smokey the Bear will be on hand, along with nature shows presented by the Metro Parks.

“You’ll also see live animals, shows and displays; and everyone can participate in our fishing derby, activities and crafts,” Dillman said.

The city will provide all of the fishing poles and bait for the fishing derby, thanks to past donations from Fisherman’s Warehouse and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Families are encouraged to bring a picnic to the park or purchase food made available in support of Groveport Boy Scout Troop 71.

Visitors can also take advantage of a free water analysis offered by Culligan Water; children’s IDs will be offered through the Western Southern Insurance Co.

Other participants will include Happy Family Foods, the Gahanna Herb Center, Groveport Garden Club, Kye Feasel Nature Photography, Follow the River and Briars Patch Ranch.
