Groveport’s excellence in budget management earned for 2014 a state auditor’s Award with Distinction.
Tim Craft, representing the auditor’s office, presented city Finance Director Jeff Green with the award at Groveport City Council’s Nov. 24 meeting. Craft said fewer than 5 percent of Ohio municipalities manage to achieve such recognition.
“This is the highest award the state auditor gives out,” he said. “The Auditor of State Award with Distinction means more than just receiving a clean audit report. We audit over 5,800 municipalities.”
Green said earning the award was a team effort. He thanked all city department heads and singled out his staff members, Anna Krigbaum and Amy Hartung for praise, “especially Anna, as she works really hard and has helped us come so far.”
Councilwoman Jean Ann Hilbert expressed her gratitude to Green for earning the award for the city.
“This is quite an honor for us,” she said.
In a congratulatory letter, Auditor of State Dave Yost wrote, “Clean and accurate record-keeping are the foundation for good government, and the taxpayers can take pride in your commitment to accountability.”
Green said he expects to announce details of another award, this one from the Government Finance Officers Association, which the city earned last year for its excellence in financial reporting, at a future meeting.
