Groveport is expanding its manufacturing base with the opening of a production facility for USA Vinyl LLC.

Kevin Davis, the company’s chief fiscal officer, said 24 employees will move from USA Vinyl’s current location in Hilliard. The move was helped by a five-year, 25-percent employee withholding tax incentive that Groveport City Council approved in late November.

Davis said additional hiring is planned.

“We’re expanding our operations and our objective is to get up to 49 employees by the end of 2015,” he said.

Assistant City Administrator Jeff Green said the building at 5795 S. Greenpoint Drive has been vacant for a while.

Previously, it had been used by HFI, a manufacturer of interior trim components for the automotive industry.

“This is a smaller building that has been vacant for a while now, so we’re happy it’s being filled. We were able to offer the incentives because of incentives being offered by the state,” Green said. “One thing we wanted to avoid was anyone thinking we’d poached them from Hilliard, so we made sure they’d gone through everything there properly before going into talks with them.”

USA Vinyl has been operating in central Ohio for 12 years as a wholesale vinyl manufacturer, focused primarily on railings, fencing and outdoor living products. The company also sells American-made aluminum fencing products.

“We really like Groveport and this area,” Davis said. “It’s a very nice combination of a beautiful old town that’s close to transportation and Columbus.

“It appears that development is being managed very well here and I’m sure everyone in our company is going to really like it here,” he said.
