The seventh annual Canal Winchester Cruise-In at the final Music and Art in the Park event of the summer takes place this weekend, and is once again expected to be a crowd-pleaser.

This family-friendly event is free and open to the public from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, at Stradley Place, 36 S. High St.

Automobile and motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to register, for free, for the cruise-in by emailing Diane Mays at dmays@canalwinchesterohio.gov, or in person between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Friday, before the start of the musical entertainment and art demonstrations.

The first 50 registrants will receive a complementary dash plaque courtesy of the event sponsor, Jeff Wyler Chevrolet.

Awards will be handed out in various categories, including Mayor’s Choice, Band’s Choice, Sponsor’s Choice and Furthest Traveled. Visitors are invited to help select a winner for the People’s Choice Award.

This year’s musical entertainment will conclude with a performance by the Gas Pump Jockeys, who cover fun, family-friendly oldies music from 1950s through the 1970s.

Besides live music, airbrush tattoo artist and caricature artist Sean Platt will be on hand to create fun, individualized mementos for interested attendees.

Members of the Canal Winchester Art Guild will display some of their work and will provide live art demonstrations throughout the evening. Pieces will be available for purchase.

Seating is limited, so those who attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Picnics are welcome, though fair-style food and nonalcoholic beverages can be purchased.
